Las Vegas continually ranks as one of the top cities in the nation for vegan dining. With the opening of the city’s first vegan culinary school, it’s sure to bring even more accolades. The Vegas Vegan Culinary School and Eatery, a non-accredited vegan cooking school, opens Saturday, Nov. 6 at noon.
The Vegas Vegan Culinary School
Vegas Vegan Culinary School isn’t just the first vegan cooking school in Las Vegas, it’s also the first non-accredited vegan cooking school in the US. What’s more, it’s set to offer nearly 30 classes per month. The vegan cooking school caters to all levels of culinary skills.
Founder Heather Heath brings her passion for veganism to the new school.
“I am a passionate animal welfare advocate and believe that some of the abuses and misuses of animals can be resolved through easy lifestyle changes using earthly, tasty, cruelty-free meals. If education is a key component for change, why not educate with food?,” says Heath.
She’s created a space not only for culinary education, but to showcase vegan eats at the deli and show off plant-based food to the masses.
According to the Heath, classes at Vegas Vegan Culinary School range from learning how to make quick, healthy snacks to what to do with tofu. Local chef Kenny Chye of Chef Kenny’s restaurants is planning to teach a vegan sushi class.
The Eatery
Then, there’s the Eatery. It will showcase a deli and espresso bar, complete with freshly made vegan eats for dining in or take-away. In addition, they plan on a weekly Sunday brunch which “pays homage to its Vegas roots and unlike any other”.
What’s more, the Eatery is going to offer weekly meal prep.
Vegas Vegan Culinary School and Eatery is located in the Las Vegas Arts District.
