It’s only the beginning of 2019 and in the span of a week, two vegan restaurants are open. Back in the fall, Vegans, Baby broke the news that Pancho’s Vegan Tacos was opening two new locations. The first of the two — located in Anthem (2540 Anthem Village Dr.) — officially opens Jan. 18. Owner Sacbe Meling told Vegans, Baby when the news first came out that the Anthem location will serve alcohol and also feature new menu items, too.
The original Pancho’s Vegan Tacos (4865 S. Pecos Rd.) is set to open a full vegan cafe and bakery located next to their original spot in the near future, and there’s also a Pancho’s westside in the works (3555 S. Fort Apache Rd.).
There’s also a new vegan restaurant that quietly opened last week — Govinda’s Vegan Restaurant (8825 Escondido St.). A part of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, Govinda’s is open Tuesday – Saturday from noon – 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. and Sundays from noon – 6 p.m.
Govinda’s is a vegan buffet with rotating eats daily that include salad, two soups, two different rice options, two curries and bread, along with a dessert. The buffet (sans drink and dessert) is $9.95 per person. Don’t want a buffet? You can also order the eats a la carte.
Expect dishes like basmati rice, organic mixed salads, brown lentil soup, chickpea and spinach curry, veggie koftas and more, plus desserts including sweet rice pudding at this new vegan restaurant in Las Vegas.
