Want to devour some flavorful vegan Persian food in Las Vegas? American Gypsy Cafe is your answer.
The vast restaurant located on Flamingo Rd. offers up a variety of vegan food — some we know and some we couldn’t wait to try!
Let’s delve into the familiar Persian territory first.
To start with, there’s hummus, falafel and dolmah leaves stuffed with rice and herbs (just let them know you’re vegan and no problem!). Want some leafy greens in your life? Vegan options for salads include the Shirazi Salad with chopped cucumber, tomato and onions seasoned with lemon juice and the house salad.
Moving on to soups, nearly all of the soups are vegan at American Gypsy Cafe. There’s the lentil soup made with green lentils, tomato, garlic and onions, and barley soup with carrots and celery.
Now, let’s talk about the dishes that we couldn’t wait to experience. The Ghormeh Sabzi Stew sound like something you’ve tried before? We hadn’t! This massive soup is made with green veggies, dried limes and herb sauce and served with basmati rice. But, our favorite dish — and one that you can only get at American Gypsy Cafe — is the tahdig. This traditional Persian dish features crispy rice and topped with tomato khoresh stew.
The best part of American Gypsy Cafe? Their vegan eats are all super affordable — the most you’ll be set back is around $13 for the stew — and packed with gorgeous flavor.
