It’s only been a couple of months, but the Beyond Tacos just made history at Del Taco. The new tacos using Beyond meat are officially one of the best-selling new products ever at Del Taco, with a whopping 2 million sold (fun fact: they’ve hand-sliced 100,000 avocados for the Beyond Avocado Taco).
So, whats the only Mexican fast food chain serving vegan options to do? Up the ante.
Del Taco is expanding its Beyond offerings even more with two new signature items dropping today at all 580 of their locations — the Beyond 8 Layer Burrito and the Epic Beyond Cali Burrito. The two new eats are vegetarian, but can easily be made vegan by nixing an item or two.
“The enthusiasm shown by our fans during the first weeks of our Beyond Meat offerings was undeniable,” said John Cappasola, President and Chief Executive Officer of Del Taco. “To that end, we wanted to reward the passion being shown across social media and in our restaurants by utilizing our uniquely seasoned Beyond Meat recipe in two new protein-packed burritos.”
The Epic Beyond Cali Burrito features seasoned Beyond Meat crumble stuffed into an oversized flour tortilla, along with Crinkle-Cut Fries, tangy guac and handmade pico de gallo. Make it vegan by holding the sour cream.
Del Taco’s other Beyond Meat burrito is the Beyond 8 Layer version packed with 26 grams of protein and features the crumble, slow-cooked beans, guacamole, fresh tomatoes, lettuce and red sauce in a warm flour tortilla. Make it vegan by holding the cheese and sour cream.
Bonus: you can try the new 8 Layer burrito for free with any purchase when you use BEYOND8 code in The Del app from June 20 – 27 at participating locations.
Del Taco is one in a growing number of fast food and fast-casual food chains to offer plant-based meats.
