Did we just discover our new favorite place to break bread with omnivore friends? That’s a resounding yes!
Beauty & Essex, which launched a revamped vegan menu in summer 2018, serves up one of the best plant-based menus on The Strip.
Tucked inside The Cosmopolitan and with a “hidden” entrance in the back of a pawn shop, Beauty & Essex is a hip and upscale eatery featuring a dynamic cocktail list and a creative and delicious vegan menu.
And when we say creative and delicious, we mean it.
Start your Beauty & Essex experience with the avocado test. It’s the best version of avocado toast we’ve ever had complete with lemon and espelette pepper. It’s a hard one to share, but definitely share because there’s such goodness to come, you will want to make sure there’s room.
Other share items we love are the Tofu Tataki featuring thinly sliced tofu in a ponzu vinaigrette with daikon slaw and micro wasabi and the rich Grilled Mushroom Pizzaetta topped with mushrooms, roasted garlic and soy cheese (guys, it’s delicious).
That’s not all though — you can also share a house salad with lemon-toasted cumin vinaigrette and tofu tzatziki, Thai-style deep fried tempeh with green papaya slaw (love) or soyrizo tacos with avocado puree and cabbage slaw.
There are three main courses on the menu ($28 – $29 each) — the Herb Crusted Tempeh served with an heirloom tomato and watermelon salad, the paprika-dusted tofu that is grilled and smoked and the Szechuan chili-dusted Beyond Beef veggie stir fry in a black bean chili sauce (our top pick).
Beauty & Essex also features a few vegan sides. Definitely try the Mediterranean cauliflower, a surprising combo of curry and orange make this dish unique. Other sides include BBQ fries (think BBQ potato chips, but fries), broccolini and chargrilled green beans in a gochujang glaze and topped with toasted sesame.
Be sure to save room for dessert. Beauty & Essex features a selection of house-made sorbets, a Neopolitan Sundae topped with coconut whip, chocolate sauce and filthy cherries and the sensational Chocolate Ganache Tartlets. These bad boys are filled with gooey chocolate, wrapped in crisp tuiles and topped with strawberry sorbet and berry puree.
