Henderson, you’re about to get your first entirely vegan restaurant, courtesy of VegeNation. The popular Downtown vegan restaurant helmed by chef Donald Lemperle is bringing its global street food to Henderson (10075 S. Eastern Ave.) this week.
Hansel Tan, formerly of Smashed Pig, joins the restaurant taking over chef-ing duties at the new location.
“We loved his passion for trying new foods, experimenting with vegan cooking and adding new spices to our dishes,” says Lemperle of Tan.
The menu — which is the same as the Downtown location, albeit with location-specific pop-ups according to partner and creative director of VegeNation, Kelly Bennett — got a little refresh with the Henderson opening.
Oh, what new goodness awaits at VegeNation:
Mushroom Power Pasta – gluten-free rotini pasta tossed in a portobello mushroom sauce, with braised mushrooms, broccoli, kale and baby tomatoes;
Holy Mole – plant-based chicken strips in a traditional mole sauce and served with rice, beans, jicama slaw and non-GMO tortillas;
Green Tea Noodle Salad – kelp Green Tea noodles mixed with veggie slaw and tossed in a spicy peanut dressing;
The Super Green Salad – organic baby spinach, kale and red cabbage with fresh tomatoes, kalamata olives, sunflower seeds, and topped with the Green Goddess dressing;
Warm Apple Cobbler – a gorgeous streusel with almond-milk vanilla ice cream;
S’mores Parfait – chocolate mousse, graham crackers and toasted meringue.
They’re also serving CBD Feel Good Tea, a locally-blended ginger infused tea with raw CBD oil that not only helps you digest, but also feel good!
We checked out the spot and stuffed our faces (of course) and our favorites of the new dishes are the Noodle Salad and the Apple Cobbler.
Food aside, let’s talk about the vibe here. Bennet has created a warm, bright and welcoming space with the second VegeNation. From hanging plants to plant walls to a curated garden outside designed to attract butterflies, the new spot is simply gorgeous. There’s a local art gallery (currently it’s Recycled Propaganda), and a shop that will house locally created goodies. We also love the community table, complete with outlets to plug in and enjoy the free Wi-Fi.
VegeNation opens later this week. For details on their opening, be sure to follow their Instagram.
