On April 25, the popular Mexican fast food restaurant, Del Taco, launches their vegan tacos, becoming the first fast food Mexican chain to offer vegan options at all 580 of their locations in the US. But, if you happen to swing by Del Taco’s Rainbow Blvd. (511 S. Rainbow Blvd.) location from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, you can get a sneak peek at the new Beyond Meat offering in the form of free tacos with your purchase.
The roll out first started in late 2018 with Del Taco testing Beyond Meat dishes in San Diego and Los Angeles.
“With a growing demand for vegan and vegetarian options among our guests, we saw an opportunity within the space to partner with Beyond Meat to develop a proprietary blend of seasoned, 100 percent plant-based meat,” says John Cappasola, President and Chief Executive Officer of Del Taco.
The new vegan offering at Del Taco is the Beyond Avocado Taco with seasoned Beyond Meat crumbles, avocado, lettuce and diced tomatoes in a crunchy shell. You can also add Beyond Meat crumbles as an option in burritos, other tacos and more.
“We are always looking for new and innovative ways to elevate our menu, and are excited to offer this plant-based alternative to even more of our fans – whether they are vegan, vegetarian or just looking to switch things up – without sacrificing quality and taste,” Cappasola added.
As for why Del Taco chose Las Vegas, Chief Marketing Officer Barry Westrum says: “While there were passionate guests in all parts of the country, Vegas residents spoke most loudly in numbers, so we’re thrilled to give locals a taste of our Beyond Tacos and Beyond Avocado Tacos, for free, before they launch nationwide on the 25th.”
Who’s excited?!?
