D E Thai Kitchen

There’s another spot serving up vegan Thai food in Downtown Las Vegas … and this one actually wants to serve Thai versus some others who aren’t very vegan-friendly. The family-owned D E Thai Kitchen, which opened early spring 2018 in the Arts District, is a tiny spot housing some amazing vegan food in Downtown Las Vegas.

We’ve been going to them since before they actually create a vegan menu, but now that we bugged them enough, they’ve got heaps of vegan options, so grab a seat in the fast-casual restaurant and eat all the Thai food.

Not sure what to order? The Tom Kha at D E Thai Kitchen is gorgeous — a spicy, tangy blend of coconut milk and galangal (think ginger, but spicier and a staple of Thai cooking) packed with veggies or add some tofu if you’re in the mood. Sharing appetizers? The fried tofu is a generous serving for a few people to enjoy.

The vegan-friendly Las Vegas restaurant also offers one of our favorites from Thailand — larb, a staple of Thai Issan life and considered to be the national dish of Laos. While it normally is made of meat, D E Thai has created a vegan version made with onion, cilantro, mint leaves, chili and rice powder. Our favorite? The spicy papaya salad. It takes us back to life in Thailand in every bite.

Entrees include ginger garlic stir-fry, garlic pepper stir-fry, pad thai, green, red, yellow and panang curries plus vegan desserts like coconut ice cream with roti and mango sticky rice.

They’ve even got coconut milk for your Thai Iced Tea. Want some caffeine? Be sure to try the Thai coffee, it’s a sweet, caffeinated pick-me-up.

Did we just find our new favorite Thai place? Maybe so!
